Mccown & Evans Website banner Loop

AOE Creative reached out to us at Grand Skeem Creative to design a looping website banner for McCown & Evans’ refreshed site. They provided a brief with the desired look and implementation details. We started by creating a moodboard and styleframes to set the tone. In production, we developed 3D assets in Cinema 4D for the looping tunnel. Finally, we composited the elements in After Effects to deliver the final product.

MoodBOard
We began preproduction with a discussion about creating a web banner as a transition and portal to the gaming/esports section of McCown & Evans’ website. The banner needed to be abstract, ethereal, and slightly mysterious. After this conversation, Grand Skeem Creative developed a moodboard reflecting these keywords, showcasing groupings for color, shape, and dimension. The final piece had to look cool and engaging, yet subtle enough to blend with the rest of the webpage.
Styleframes
We developed a series of styleframes inspired by the references in our moodboard. This allowed us to refine the look and color scheme for the website banner loop before moving into full production. We presented AOE with three options, and they selected the diamond shaped one.
Asset Creation & Composite
Once AOE chose a style, Grand Skeem Creative kicked off the production phase with animation tests in Cinema 4D. These tests helped us fine-tune the speed of the web banner loop to ensure optimal performance. During this stage, we also designed several transitions to reveal the animation when triggered on the website. Additionally, we modeled classic video game icons and elements as OBJ files for use in the final website. The final animation loop was composited in Adobe After Effects. The GIF illustrates a simple breakdown of the rendered elements coming together to form the final image.
